XDcam proxy / HQ audio extractor
For: Win / Mac
Intended for people who want to use the proxy images for offline, but need the sound in online quality. Works for both Avid and FCP (and every other application that can use BWF files)
This is mostly intended to use with the PDW-U1.
For Windows users, you'll get proxies with HQ audio, but for Mac the gain is even bigger.
It simplifies the importing of the proxies, making this cheap but versitale drive a good option to offline with Avid.
Main features include
- Create Proxy media for FCP, including TC / Reelname and HQ audio!
- Create BWF files, including time info, creation date/time, Reelname.
- VERY fast, without compromising the quality!
(Windows is faster than mac, but even on Mac you get 2 channel BWF at least more than 8 times faster than RT)
-Get the 'normal' proxies as QT for logging, extremely fast.
The (free) demoversion is limited to the first 8 clips on a disk.
Keep in mind, most functions will ONLY work with the PDW U1 ! (Only extracting low quality audio (if you like upsampled to 48Khz) will work with any player / camera.)
The videotour will show you how it looks, but only shows the easiest FCP workflow. It also shows how you can do a file based conform in FCP, but for that you also need the XDcamExtract application.

History
After several earlier attempts to create something like this, Sony made it possible with the new drive and its drivers.
Latest version is now 1.8.0 for Windows, 1.9.0 for mac
Mac now runs as a native .app, and has a bugfix when output is to long filepath/name
Both versions now can handle import from harddisk, and can handle custom file names.
