Video Assist assist
For: Win/Mac
It was developed for a particular client, Ian Kelly.
We’re very honored that he asked us to write this, as he has worked on some movies we really like, and some really big movies:
(Batman, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Mars Attacks!, Twelve Monkeys, Edward Scissorhands, to name just a few…)
VideoAssist-assist is written to assist a video assist…
All footage during a movie shoot is also recorded on harddrive.
In the original workflow someone had to open each clip, find the start TC in a database and rename the clip. Next he had to enter the start – end Tc’s from the actual action into that database.
After that each clip had to be trimmed manually to the action with QT player Pro.
Not practical, not accurate and definitely not fast.
Needless to say that this is not fun if you have to deal with a couple of hundred clips a day, and after you come back from the set…
VideoToolshed to the rescue!
Main features include
We developed a fast QT player Pro on steroids.
It can read the VITC from the QT (the funny dots on top of the image)
It is keyboard controllable like it’s a full blown editing application.
It can put custom in/outpoints into the database with a single keystroke.
It can run automatically trough entire directories and compare all clips to the entries in the database and rename them.
It can trim an entire directory and trim all clips according to the database.
It gives feedback on missing clips, missing database entries and other things that might have gone wrong somewhere during the process.
Needless to say this little product is going to be a huge timesaver.
History
As stated before, this is custom design for mr. Kelly’s needs.
This is not a product that is for sale ‘off the shelf’.
It can however, be adapted for your special wishes / projects.
If you want a demo, just mail us with your plans and we set up a presentation application, without charge!
