SubBits subtitler

For: Win/Mac

A professional subtitle / CC preparation and render toolset

We're proud to announce that the CC capabilty is compatible with Final Cut Pro 7. You now can output your video to tape including CC, without additional cost!

If you have the need for subtitles you will probably find that it's not very practical to do the translation in your NLE's title generator. Almost no NLE gives you the option to playback your show and type at the same time. SubBits subtitler does. This professional subtitle software is developed in close cooperation with professional translators and has all the handy tools you need to make a translation for titles and output to the format of choice. You can even work on a simple office machine, freeing up your precious edit suite.

New! Avid SubCap support!
Here is the Avid demo.
Also new, Flash support.
Have a look at the Jeroen Wijering player.

There is not enough space here to really cover everything. Just download it and read the manual...

Quotes:

Chip Eberhart did a small demo of Subbits at MacWorld:
> Brian Hoffman (product manager for DVD Studio Pro) was very impressed.

Philip Hodgetts, after he found out that SubBits was not suitable for transcribing radio:
>Pretty cool tool you've made there though.

Have a look at the video below, showing Subbits in action using minimum effort to get titles into Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro.

IMPORTANT!
We've got some complaints about the FCP XML not working. There are a few possible mistakes:
1) Read the manual how to set up a template!
2) Install the Edit 'B textplugin in the RIGHT folder. If it is in the wrong folder, it 'seems' to work in FCP, but XML import fails! Again, see the manual for the correct install location.

History

In the early days of DVD studio Pro we had to do some simple subtitling.
The tool that came with DVD SP was so crappy that we needed something else.
As it did accept text as input we've made a very simple utility that could convert the Quicktime time to proper formatted Tc, and combine that with a simple text editor.
Over the years when DVD became a large part of our daily work we kept on developing it, added functionality, support for open captions etc.
At a certain stage we came into contact with a professional translator who helped us improving it to what we think is the fastest subtitle prep application available.

Both accept now a wide variety of input formats, including FLV and VOB.
It's also possible now to render large or difficult movie files to a more 'Subbits friendly' format for better perfomance.

New output formats added:
WMV compatible SMI with ASX
YouTube, subRip
Bitmaps with FAB script for Adobe Encore.
Timed Text / Flash XML.
For fast implementation of your flash subtitles, try the Jeroen Wijering player.

A (very simple) example for Flash is on my site.
Click here to see a very simple implementation.

NOTE. If you cannot link video, see if you got special characters in the pathname to the video (including the discname and the filename)!
If so, rename the video, or move it to another place.

Current version is 4.6.6 for both Windows and Mac
